Ideas for studying the Bible Lesson “Man” – SEPTEMBER 4, 2016

Dear Readers,

For this week’s blog, we are sharing a clip from one of our recordings that parallels the healings of Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy (Continuity of Christian Healing), which can be accessed if you are a Biblos Subscriber. One story referenced is the healing of the woman bowed over, mentioned in this week’s Bible Lesson on “Man” in Section 5:

Luke 13: 11-17

11  And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

12  And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.

13  And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14  And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15  The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

16  And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

17  And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

Ideas for studying the Bible Lesson “Spirit” – AUGUST 7, 2016

Dear Readers,

For this week’s blog, we are sharing a clip from one of our talks: “In the beginning…Genesis 1,” which references Genesis 1:26-27 found in Section 1 in this week’s Bible Lesson on “Spirit”.

Genesis, Chapter 1, 26-27

26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Ideas for studying the Bible Lesson “Life” – JULY 17, 2016

Dear Readers,

For this week’s blog, we have made a custom audio clip about Jacob and Esau referenced in this week’s Bible Lesson, from Section Two:

‘Jacob and Esau’

Section 2, The Bible:

Gen. 27: 41 – Esau

41  Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

Gen. 32: 1,3, 6, 7 (to:), 24-30

1  And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

3  And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.

6  And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.

7  Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed:

24  And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25  And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26  And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh.  And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

27  And he said unto him, What is thy name?  And he said, Jacob.

28  And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

29  And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name.  And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name?  And he blessed him there.

30  And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

Gen. 33:1 (to 1st .), 4, 8-10

1  And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men.

4  And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.

8  And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met?  And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.

9  And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.

10  And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
